Ingredients required to make chicken calzone 

1 . 1 tablespoon olive oil .

2. ¼ cup finely chopped red onion .

3. 3 cups baby spinach leaves .

4. ⅓ cup low sodium marinara sauce .

5. ⅓ cup shredded cooked chicken breast .

6. 6 ounces prepared pizza dough .

7. ⅓ cup shredded mozzarella cheese .

8. Cooking spray .

Direction / how to make chicken calzone 

Chicken Calzone


Step 1

Heat oil in a nonstick skillet over medium high heat . Add onion: cook , stirring occasionally, until tender , about 2 minutes . Stir in spinach : cover and cook until wilted , about 2 minutes . Remove from heat ; stir in marinara and chicken .

Step 2

Preheat an air fryer to 325 degree Fahrenheit ( 165 degree Celsius ) according to manufacturer's instructions .

Step 3

Divide daugh into 4 equal pieces . Roll each piece on a lightly flavoured work surface into a 6 inch circle . Spread ¼ of the spinach mixture over the bottom half of each dough circle . Top each with ¼ of the mozzarella cheese . Fold daugh over filling to form half-moon and crimp edges to seal . Coat well with cooking spray .

Step 4 : 

Transfer calzone to the air fryer basket . Cook it for 8 to 10 minutes . Turn calzone over ; cook until golden brown comes , about 4 to 5 minutes more .

My experience after cooking

great recipe ! Limited ingredients , from fridge to table in 30 minutes or less and just plain fun . Definitely kid friendly . The flavour we discussed below pretty good . If you feeling creative, you could add some seasonings prior to sealing the calzone like dried basil , a pinch of garlic powder or red pepper flakes but really the taste is great .
